Client:
Pioneer Public Television, 1998
Dimensions:
30' x 20'
Project Overview:
Pioneer Public Television was scheduling several town hall meetings over
the course of six months from their studios. They did not have the facility
or space to handle 30+ people for the meeting. They did however, have
an unused space in the upstairs of their historic Opera House. This is
where they decided to build the set.
Project Details:
Pioneer Pulbic television had an outside producer who designed this set.
They brought me in for the actual construction. This set was, simply put,
big. Measuring over 30 feet wide, 20 feet deep, and 14' high, this set
needed to accomodate 36 people attending each of the town hall meetings.
Initially, it was
deisgned to be fully modular and easy to disassemble and move. We found
early on this could not be the case. We needed to make several modifications
to the design for stability and safety purposes. The set was built to
stay.
The design utilized
36 chairs from the original opera house seating. |
