Client:
Pioneer Public Television, 2002
Dimensions:
36" x 8'
Project Overview:
Ralph Nader, noted consumer advocate and former U.S. presidential candidate,
was the guest speaker for the 2002 University of Minnesota Morris Student
Convocation. The request was given to videotape the event. After some
discussion, we at Media Services thought to go even further and produce
a one-hour program for broadcast on public television.
Project Details:
Having a well-known individual as convocation speaker presented a unique
opportunity to create a UMM-vehicle for public television. I, along with
Media Services, took the opportunity to create a program that is a reflection
of the University.
To design the backdrop
for the project, I first created mockups of the design and presented
the concept to the UMM Marketing Group. I incorporated the 'Discover'
theme UMM was currently using at the time, by designing four panels,
each with a unique keyword: Discover your World, Discover the Advantages,
Discover the Knowledge, and Discover the Challenges. Each
panel had an image screened in either maroon or gold. The UMM wordmark
is also on all five panels. The center panel incorporated UMM's slogan
on a maroon background.
The design worked
great for the event. A one-hour program was edited and broadcast on Pioneer
Public Television. Feedback from the several administration at UMM commented
on how well the live presentation looked, in addition to how well the
set made UMM look like 'America's Best Liberal Arts College.' |
